HISTORICAL PROVENANCE

The Column Lucca is inspired by a set of six marble columns created in Granada, Spain, between 1350 and 1400 and now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The columns originally belonged to the Alhambra, the famous royal palace city in Granada which means "the red one," after the red clay of its construction. The slender columns are characteristic of the architectural style of the Nasrid dynasty (1232–1492) and would have adorned courtyards between palaces. Crafted from sleek white marble, the Column Lucca becomes a museum-style pedestal for display.
