HISTORICAL ORIGIN

The Center Table Library takes its design inspiration from the tables in the Thomas J. Watson Library, the research library of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The library has a collection of over one million volumes, extensive digital collections, and online resources, making it one of the most comprehensive art libraries in the world. The library, along with an original drawing of a library table (ca. 1753–62) by famed cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale (British, 1718–1779), influenced the design of the Center Table Library, which is beautifully crafted in black veneer.
