Eichholtz Dining table Florence 150 cm
HISTORICAL ORIGIN
The Florence Dining Table takes its design cues from a Catalan column shaft (c. 1130–40) in The Cloisters, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's museum dedicated to medieval art and architecture. The original marble and stone column shaft, made in present-day France, stands in the museum's Cuxa Cloister, which has been recreated using fragments from the 12th-century Benedictine monastery of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa. The Florence Dining Table adopts the serene, simple form of the museum's column shaft and has been carefully reimagined as an elegant travertine table.
