HISTORICAL PROVENANCE
The Center Table Library is inspired by the design of the tables in the Thomas J. Watson Library, the research library of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The library holds a collection of over a million volumes, extensive digital collections, and online resources, making it one of the most comprehensive art libraries in the world. The library, along with an original drawing of a library table (c. 1753–62) by the celebrated cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale (British, 1718–1779), have influenced the design of the Center Table Library, which is beautifully crafted in black veneer.
